01Profile notes
With the grand vision of creating a “Glass Art City, Toyama,” Toyama Glass Art Museum opened in August 2015. Located in the Toyama Kirari complex with the city’s main library, the museum was designed by architect Kengo Kuma; its exterior evokes the Tateyama mountain range through granite, glass and aluminium, while the interior uses local materials to create warmth. The museum offers permanent exhibitions, a “Glass Art Passage” and a 6th‑floor Glass Art Garden featuring installations from Dale Chihuly.
