Stained Glass Garden

Now a cherished Bay Area Institution, Stained Glass Garden was founded by Joan McLean and her brother Bruce, in the summer of 1976. At the time, the Fourth Street Shopping District was nothing more than a few dirt roads, empty lots, and a goat farm. In 1986, Joan became the sole owner and expanded the store threefold. In the years since, the bustling Fourth Street community has continued to blossom around us.

Julie Orchard joined the staff in 2004 and fell in love with the community, as well as all things glass. She teaches stained glass, fusing, and mosaic classes, and took over as general manager and gallery director in 2008.

We welcome a wide variety of visiting artists for classes and gallery events throughout the year. In 2021 we celebrate 45 years!
