Hang Your Glass was invented by Poppy Mussallem and Robert Williams. Poppy has worked with glass for over 20 years and Rob is a second generation machinist. Our company continues to innovate hardware in order to assist and collaborate with glass artists creating wall sculptures. Our goal is to empower artists with unlimited creative freedom to hang any shape at any angle.
The Hang Your Glass hardware has often been called revolutionary, but it wasn’t created overnight. Our company’s founder, Poppy Mussallem, combined her personal experience as an artist with innovative mechanical design to create a first of its kind system.
The story of our company starts with a young girl who adored art. Little Poppy loved to color and draw, sometimes even using the walls of her family home as a canvas. In high school she got her first taste of public exposure when her ceramic hand build installation was the centerpiece in a college exhibit at Arizona State University. She studied art in college, but like many of us she had to find a day job after school. That didn’t stop her from creating. While her days were spent in an office, nights and weekends were dedicated to art.
In the mid 1990’s, Poppy started working with art glass. As she created works, she became frustrated that glass sculptures could only be displayed on a table. There was no easy and nondestructive method to hang glass on a wall. Poppy became determined to “get her glass off the table.” While learning welding, she met Robert Williams. It took years and many many prototypes but working together, they invented the patented Hang Your Glass system.
The Hang Your Glass hardware made its public debut in 2004 at the Glass Art Society Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. Since that day, artists all over the world have been able to easily and securely hang their sculptures on walls for public display.
